EL DÍA DE EJERCISIO PARA CHARLIE

72.2 km today on the bike today, pretty awesome eh!??! But I can hear your thoughts of why not do a little more Stocko and make it a round 100km?!? Set off on the ANILLO VERDE COMUNIDAD DE MADRID (40.73 miles / 65.6 km) gorgeous day, must have topped 30 degrees, 10am start and was loving the route, hills, through parcs and forests, smooth path, awesome scenery, perfic!!!

Madrid Marathon was on also so wanted to see them gutsing it out on the roads and give some English support. VAMOS CHICOS, FUERTE!!!
Through Casa de Campo, passed the Royal Palace, passed Plaza Mayor (all in the distance). At the 45km stage properly stacked it!! Hand has swolen up like a melon, praying I havn't done me scaphoid again, shoulder, knee, bent handle bars, the lot.

26km on and now back in the NE quarter of Madrid, decided to put a bit more air in the front tyre as I reckon it took a battering in the crash, only problem is I totally snapped the valve on my front wheel, sooo annoyed..... If it aint broken don't fix it eh Stockers!! So, on the metro I went, speedo on me bike stuck fast on 72.2 km.... 45 minutes on the metro and home!!
Went for a 15km run as felt a little hard done by!!!
Amazing day, 4.5 hours on the bike, top speed of 56kmh & 85 mins running, Nice!!
Caio for now!!

*** NEW CHARITY ***

Hi

On a role tonight, Saturday night and home writing this.... Craaaazzyy!!! But, Great News.....

After speaking with the Directors of Fitness First and the Childrens Charity Get Kids Going I have decided to raise all funds for this Awesome Cause... Why the change of heart?

I have worked in the Health and Fitness Industry for 9 years now and seen the massive growth of people from the UK, Australia and Spain wanting to exercise for health, general wellbeing, sport and personal goals. I have helped clients and members acheive some remarkable goals including running marathons, climbing mountains, overcoming injuries and more. I have been involved in 4 Get Active Sydney events with Fitness First Australia - a free day of exercise, games and generally Getting Children Active so they might take this energy and start a new sport, hobby or past-time.

This year I want to keep my enthusiasm of Getting the Children in our society Active but broaden my expertese to helping Disabled Children Get Active also!! We all need the strength and commitment of Dick Hoyte (See previous Post) but if don't have this unbelievable support the next best thing is to help ALL Young Children Get Active, Get into Sport and enjoy all the things that we enjoy every day......

HELPING TO GET DISABLEDCHILDREN INTO SPORT

Get Kids Going! is a National charity which gives disabled children and young people - up to the age of 26 yrs - the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport.
They help promote sports for disabled children by providing them with specially built sports’ wheelchairs so they can do marathons, triathlons, tennis, athletics, mountain skiing, rugby, basketball etc. Get Kids Going! also helps and encourages British disabled children to compete by supporting them with their sports; training, physiotherapy, travel, design and development of sports’ wheelchairs. With our help many could become record holders and Paralympic champions!

Please Help me to Help them...

I Can Only Imagine

Strongest Dad in the World [From Sports Illustrated, By Rick Reilly] Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars--all in the same day.

SPAR Coast - Race Information

SPAR Coast Challenge

http://www.mobcoast.com/

On September 11, 12 and 13th Bruce and I will be running 103 miles on the South West Coastal Path. Between Haytor, on Dartmoor and Plymouth, the path has an incredible 10,000m of ascent/decent. That’s more than Everest in just 100 miles! So every mile you climb 100m and descend of course…It’s an RAW event, because it’s in the RAW format of camping and self sufficiency. The scenery is terrific, the landscape awesome and the challenge simply breath taking. There is a granite tramway, sand, sea and cliffs…lots of them on this event. The path in places is treacherous and there is a River Estuary section that provides the most unusual running conditions we have encountered whilst planning events in the UK. There’s nothing quite like it.

105 miles over 3 days

Bruce and I Back in the Game

Helooooooo
Me too legend, both Bruce and I have been fairly rubbish with the Blogs in the last year, me more so than he... View Bruce's Blog at:

So, what has happened since my last post.... Where do I start?¿?

Now living in Madrid, still working for Fitness First but in Spain as Regional PT Manager and absolutly loving it!!! The move to Spain was all rather quick and have found the last 6 months very hard, what with the language and new role etc so the training over the Winter months was fairly poor.... Since January though I have run 3 half marathons, joined a Drinking Club with a Running Problem:

http://www.madridhhh.com/index.htm

and received my Bike from the shipment of my gear from Australia so been out for some awesome cycles. Buce and I have booked into 2 other big races so far for later in the year and looking to get 1 race per month between now and April 2009 so some big challenges over the coming months.. Here is the info on the 2 Booked so far:

* SPAR Coast
* Sleepless in the Saddle

As you can see from Bruces Blog we climbed Mount Kilimanjaro last year which was absolutly incredible..... One of the most memorable experiences of my life and to do it with my Sister and best mate was quite something.... This year is going to be more focussed on endurance events, watch this space as they say....

Will be writing here each week, mainly for myself but always wanting to share so stay with me if you can.....
